How best to use my Original Coffee Cup?

Our Chilly's Coffee Cups are the ideal product to take your drinks on the go and we've made them in a variety of sizes of 230ml, 340ml, and 500ml to best suit your drink of choice!

Recommendations for keeping your drink hotter for longer

To make sure your coffee cup keeps your drink hot for the longest time possible, we recommend first filling it with boiling water to heat the inside, then emptying it out before filling your cup with a hot drink.

Please note that your drink will only stay hot relative to the temperature of the drink when it was first poured in. Our Coffee Cups do not work to the same degree as the bottles for keeping things hot or cold as there is an opening in the lid. Whilst the lids will protect against most spills, the coffee cups are not leakproof and if knocked over or placed in a bag whilst full, you do risk some drink spilling out of the drinking hole.

The below table gives an indication of how long liquids will stay hot in our coffee cups compared with an everyday mug. These temperatures are based on each cup being pre-heated with boiling water before being filled with freshly boiled water from a kettle and the temperature being measured every 30 minutes for 3 hours.

Can I buy a replacement lid for my Original Coffee Cup?

Original Coffee Cup lids are not currently available for purchase as accessories.

Can you put the Original Coffee Cup in the dishwasher?

No, Chilly's Original Coffee cups are not suitable for cleaning in dishwashers as this can cause damage to the paint and the vacuum. However, you can wash the lid in a dishwasher separately if needed!

We recommend cleaning your coffee cup after each use with hot soapy water, please do not leave the coffee cup to soak for a long time. For a very thorough clean please use bicarbonate soda(UK)/baking powder(US). Whilst Chilly's Coffee Cups are made of high-grade stainless steel which preserves the flavour and freshness of your drinks, if they are not cleaned regularly it can lead to a smell or taste developing.

Is the Original Coffee Cup leak-proof?

No, the coffee cups are not leak proof. The lids, whilst preventing major splashes if knocked over, do have holes in them for drinking that cannot be closed. For this reason, we do not recommend carrying your coffee cup in a bag.

If your coffee cup is leaking from the seal between the lid and the cup itself, please check the o-ring to ensure it is fitted correctly. If it doesn't sit right on your lid, this may cause your coffee cup to leak.

What are the sizes and weights of Original Coffee Cups?

Original Coffee Cup dimension:

- 340ml – 7cm wide at the bottom, 9cm wide at the top & 13cm tall. The weight of this cup is 239g.

- 500ml – 7cm wide at the bottom, 9cm wide at the top & 18.8cm tall. The weight of this cup is 328g

Can the old Tumbler lids fit onto the Original Coffee Cups? (vice versa)

They certainly can!

Are the Original Coffee Cup lids screw on or push on?

The Original Coffee Cup lids do not have a lip to pull the lid off. Instead, we find they work best with a twist and pull motion.

What materials are Chilly's Coffee Cups made from and what are the lids made from?

The cup's body is made with stainless steel and has a durable powder coat finish. The lids are made from tritan which is a BPA-free, impact-resistant plastic.

Can the Stainless Steel straws be used in the Original Coffee Cups?

No - the Original Coffee Cup lids were not designed to work with the straws. The straws do not fit in the drinking hole.

Will the Tumblers be coming back?

The tumblers will not be coming back - instead, we have re-launched them as part of Chilly's Original Coffee Cup range in early 2019.
